Frequently Asked Questions

Everything first-time and experienced cruisers want to know.

Most cruise fares include accommodation, all main dining (buffet and main dining room), entertainment, use of pools and facilities, and port fees. Not usually included: specialty restaurants, alcoholic drinks, shore excursions, spa treatments, gratuities, and Wi-Fi. Always check what's in your specific package.
For the best selection of cabins and prices, book 6–12 months in advance, especially for peak summer Mediterranean and Christmas Caribbean sailings. Alternatively, last-minute deals (within 90 days of departure) can offer significant savings if you're flexible on dates and cabin type.
It depends on your passport and the specific ports. Many cruise passengers can visit ports on a transit visa exemption as long as they return to the ship each day. However, some destinations (like Russia when it was accessible, or certain Asian ports) require advance visas. Always check requirements for every port before sailing.
Pack seasickness medication (Dramamine or Scopalamine patches) and take it before symptoms start. Modern cruise ships are very stable, especially large ones. Choose a cabin midship on a lower deck for the smoothest ride. The ship's medical centre also dispenses treatment if needed. Ginger candies and acupressure wristbands can help too.
Not legally required, but strongly recommended. Cruise-specific travel insurance covers medical emergencies at sea (ship's medical centre bills can be very high), missed port departures if you're delayed on a shore excursion, and trip cancellation. Medical evacuation from a ship mid-ocean can cost $50,000+ without insurance.
